Portland Yacht Club is excited to invite you to our Discover Sailing Day, where you and your family can experience the thrill of sailing right here in Portland. This special event is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled day with friends, family, or colleagues, and to explore the exciting world of sailing.

On Discover Sailing Day, you’ll have the chance to:

• Go for a short sail with one of our experienced sailors.
• Tour our club facilities and learn about the various programs and sailing courses we offer.
• Enjoy activities suitable for the whole family. Kids as young as five years old can join in the fun, provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Experience our welcoming environment, where people of all abilities are invited to participate. We also offer accessible facilities for individuals with disabilities.

The best part? Discover Sailing Day at Portland Yacht Club is completely free to attend. All boats and safety equipment are provided by the club. Please come prepared with clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting wet, as well as sunscreen and a hat. Non-marking shoes are preferred.

Our Discover Sailing Host will be there to welcome you, answer any questions you might have, and guide you through the day’s activities. While the schedule may vary, we recommend setting aside at least 1.5 to 2 hours to fully enjoy your time on the water.

• Friendly club members will be there to welcome you and answer questions

Prerequisite: For safety reasons, participants must be confident in and around the water.

By the end of the day, you’ll have:

• Experienced sailing firsthand
• Discovered the fun and community spirit of your local club
• Learned about exciting courses, activities, and ways to keep sailing
