PORTLAND YACHT CLUB - ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Published Sun 08 Jun 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Portland Yacht Club will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Friday, 25th July 2025 commencing at 7:30pm.  All Committee positions will be declared vacant and nominations received will be presented to members for appointment.  At the conclusion of the AGM there will be a Special General Meeting for members to vote on the proposed Model Rules being presented as the Portland Yacht Club constitution.   A copy of the proposed Model Rules will be forwarded via email to members in the coming weeks.

Members with voting rights are asked to attend both meetings so that the nominations for the various Club Committees, the updated fee schedule for the 2025/26 year and the Model Rules will have been presented to the majority of Club voting members.

It is important that all members consider taking on a role within the Portland Yacht Club.  The Club is run by volunteers that donate their time to bringing sailing activities to the broader community.  The Club is keenly seeking members to take on one or more roles to assist with the smooth running of events and programs.  You can help by nominating for any of the positions available on the Committee of Management, Sailing Committee, and/or the Social Committee.

The AGM Nomination form can be found on this website under Documentation.

Don’t forget that a voting member can appoint a Proxy to vote on their behalf.  A Proxy form can be found on this website under Documentation.

There are two important positions that are run under the auspice of the Social Committee.  These positions are the Hall Hire Co-ordinator and the Grants Co-ordinator and both positions will be available for nomination.  The Hall Hire Co-ordinator is integral in handling the hiring of the Clubhouse which is the main fundraising activity for the Club. The Grants Co-ordinator monitors the funding programs available for the Club to seek additional funding in support of the various sailing programs and activities run by the Club.
