PORTLAND YACHT CLUB – ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Notice is hereby given that the Portland Yacht Club will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Friday, 24th July 2026 commencing at 7:00pm. All Committee positions will be declared vacant and nominations received will be presented to members for appointment.
Members with voting rights are asked to attend so that the nominations for the various Club Committees and the fee schedule for the 2026/27 year will have been presented to the majority of the Club’s voting members. Only members who hold Senior membership or Life membership are eligible to vote.
It is important that all members consider taking on a role within the Portland Yacht Club. The Club is run by volunteers that donate their time to bring sailing activities to the whole of the Club as well as the broader community. The Club is keenly seeking members to take on one or more roles to assist with the smooth running of events and programs. There are a number of Support Roles where you will provide support to sitting Committee Members, but you would not be required to participate in any Committee meetings. You do not have to be a Senior or Life member to nominate for a Support Role as these roles report directly to a PYC Flag Officer position. You can help the Club by nominating for any of the positions available on the Committee of Management (10 positions), the Sailing Committee (6 positions), the Social Committee (6 positions), or one of the Support Roles (6 roles).
The two Nomination forms can be found on this website under the Documentation tab/ PYC AGM .The AGM Nomination Form is for elected roles within the three Club Committees, including the Flag Officer roles. The PYC Support Roles Nomination form is for one of the support roles to assist Committee Members to meet our obligations to our members.
Don’t forget that a voting member can appoint a Proxy to vote on their behalf.A Proxy vote is where an eligible voting member who will not be available for the AGM can nominate another eligible voting member to submit a vote on their behalf.
